Born in Australia, Liane received scholarships from the Opera Foundation Australia, Shell Royal Covent Garden Scholarship which enabled her to study at the National Opera Studio London. She attended the AIMS summer School in Graz Austria on the Opera Australia Foundation Scholarship and in 1997, she won a Bayreuth Bursary from the Wagner Society of Great Britain.

Liane came to the attention of both critics and public alike with roles including Azucena Il Trovatore for Opera of South Australia, Ulrica Un Ballo in Maschera for Opera Australia conducted by Simone Young. Mistress Quickly in the Minnesota Sommerfest production of Falstaff conducted by Jeffrey Tate. Suzuki Madame Butterfly with Opera North. First Norn, The Twilight of the Gods with English National Opera and Offreds Mother in The Handmaids tale. Rosa Mamai L Árlesiana, Marcellina Le Nozze di Figaro with Opera Holland Park London. Filipjevna Eugene Onegin, First Norn with Staatstheater Stuttgart. Klytemnestra Elektra, Brigitte Die Tote Stadt, Leocadja Begbick Aufstieg und fall der stadt Mahagonny with Theater Hagen (ensemble member 2006-2008). As a member of the ensemble of Deutsche Oper Berlin from 2008-2012, Liane sang among many other roles, First Norn, Siegrune Der Ring des Niebelungen, Adelaide Arabella, Madelon Andrea Chenier, Mother Johanne Dialogues des Carmelites, Marcellina Le Nozze di Figaro, Filipjevna, Eugene Onegin, Mayors wife Jenufa, Anna Les Troyens, Emilia Otello, 3rd Lady Die Zauberflote, Mary Der Fliegende Hollander and Mamma Lucia Cavalleria Rusticana.

Concert appearances have included Mozart Requiem with Sir Neville Mariner and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Barbara in the British Premier of Korngold’s Violanta at the 1997 BBC Proms conducted by Paul Daniels. Waltraute in Act 3 Die Walkure with Antonio Pappano at the Edinburgh Festival. Alto solo Janacek Glagolitic Mass for Sydney Symphony under Sir Charles Mackerras. 1st Norn Gotterdammerung with Sydney Symphony conducted by Ado De Waart. Gaea Daphne VARA Concertgebouw Amsterdam conducted by Ado De Waart. Lieder eines Fahrenden Gesellen, Sydney Symphony Orchestra conducted by Mark Elder. Five Tudor Portraits Vaughan Wiliams Liverpool Philharmonic conducted by Vernon Handley. Guo Wenjing Inscriptions on Bone at the 1999 Edinburgh Festival Nieuw Ensemble of Amsterdam conducted by Ed Spanjaard, revived in Amsterdam and Wiener Konzerthaus with the Klangforum Wien, conducted by Hans Zender. Zweite Magd Elektra 2006 Edinburgh Festival conducted by Ed Gardiner. Madame de Croissy Dialogues des Carmelites for the Edinburgh Festival 2007 conducted by Ed Gardiner.  Das Lied von der Erde Auckland Philharmonia conducted by Eckehardt Stier. Das Klagende Lied Queensland Symphony Orchestra conducted by Johannes Fritsch. Alto solo Mahler 2nd Symphony West Australian Symphony Orchestra conducted by Paul Daniels.

Since returning to Australia permanently in 2012, Liane has appeared with The Royal Melbourne Philharmonic conducted by Andrew Wailes appearing in The Music Makers and Sea Pictures by Elgar. This concert is available on cd. Alto solo in Alexander Nevsky by Prokoviev and Erda in the RMP Wagner Spectacular. Alto soloist Mahler 8 Zelman Symphony Orchestra conducted by Mark Shiell.  Liane appeared as Siegrune Die Walkure Act 3 in the reopening of Hamer Hall Gala Concert. Guest artist with Victorian Opera in the White Nights Gala. Mary in Der Fliegende Hollander with Victorian Opera. Guest Artist with Ludovico’s Band singing Monteverdi arias and duets. Liane appears regularly as the Alto soloist with Heidelburg Chorale in such works as The Messiah, Rossini Petite Messe Solenelle and Elijah.  Liane has performed Elgars Sea Pictures with The BBC/MSO Proms, Sir Andrew Davis Conducting and Erda in Der Ring des Nibelungen with Opera Australia in 2016. In 2017 Liane Beethoven’s 9th Symphony for MSO, the 25th Anniversary Gala of the Tait Trust in the UK, Albine in Thais MSO, The Dutchess in

Liane appears as Erda, 1st Norn and Waltraute Die Walkure on the 2004 Melba Records recording of the first Australian Ring Cycle conducted by Asher Fisch.

More recently Liane has performed at the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival, launched her critically acclaimed one woman show “Judy Australia 1964” based on Judy Garland, Herodius Salome and Brigitta in Die Tote Stadt for Victorian Opera and in 2021 Liane performs Erda in Der Ring des Nibelungen for Opera Australia and the roles of The Old Lady/Dutchess in Sleeping Beauty for Victorian Opera
