Australian Soprano, Elena Perroni is one of the brightest stars in the opera world since training at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. She was the first Australian to be accepted into the opera program, which takes between 1 to four new singers each year. The institute has the lowest acceptance rate of any college or university, making it among the most selective institutions of higher education.  At Curtis she performed many leading roles including Adina in Donezetti’s  L’elisir d’Amore, the title role in Massenet’s Manon, Anne Truelove in Stravinsky’s  The Rake’s Progress, Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, as well as Lauretta Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, and Magda in La Rondine.  Since graduating, she joined fellow alumni for a European chamber music tour to Greece, Italy, Germany, and Spain. She also performed as part of a trio with co-artists Anthony McGill - New York Philharmonic’s  principal clarinetist and pianist Myra Huang, the Head of Music At The Metropolitan Young artist Program who are considered two of the most influential musicians in the USA today, for a concert with the Cleveland Chamber Music Society. 

Ms. Perroni made her international professional debut with Opera Philadelphia, singing the role of Doris Parker in Charlie Parker’s Yardbird, at the legendary Apollo Theatre in New York City, and reprised the role in her English National Opera debut. 

Most recent highlights include Gilda in Rigoletto with New Zealand Opera, role debut as Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata for West Australian Opera and the title role of Iolanta with West Australian Opera. 

Career hightlight’s so far include working with the Berlin Konzerthaus premiering an new work by Richard Daniellpour -  Cati Della Nature, making her Carnegie Hall debut, performing Les nuits d’ete with the Philadelphia Orchestra, making history by performing in the first opera at the acclaimed Apollo Theatre in New York, Britten’s War Requiem and Ein Deutches Requiem with West Australian Symphony Orchestra and performing the roles of Mimi and Gilda at the Chautauqua Music Festival.

Other symphonic and concert works include her Philadelphia Orchestra debut singing selections from Rusalka and Eugene Onegine as Tatyana, for Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra - Mimi in La Boheme, Juliet in Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Guliet with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Sister Constance in Dialogues des Carmelites with West Australian Opera, Maria in West Side Story with the Reno Philharmonic and Cati Della Nature which she will reprise in Accademia Musicale Chigiana, Siena. 

Ms. Perroni placed third in the International Gerda Lissner Vocal Competition. As a New York regional winner, she placed in the Loren L. Zachary competition. Ms. Perroni was also a Philadelphia regional winner of the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition. Upon graduating from the Curtis Institute of Music Ms. Perroni was awarded the Festorazzi Scholarship for most promising vocalist.
